About Harri...
I have always loved movement, dance being my first passion. I began Pilates at the age of 8, while training with the Royal Ballet School associates. Pilates became a big part of my training while at vocational Ballet School in the highlands of Scotland and that is where I fell in love with the BASI Pilates method. It was a way to give back to my body and mind after such intense ballet training, I could feel my body thanking me. Unfortunately, while I was dancing professionally, I suffered a complicated injury. After trying many techniques, I decided to begin regular Pilates reformer classes as part of my rehabilitation. Pilates gave me my love of movement again. I experienced the incredible power of Pilates to heal and give back to the body and mind and my injury was finally able to recover. I love to be able to help people enjoy movement and understand their bodies in a new way, building strength in mind and body. Just you, the movement and the breath.
I trained in London with BASI Pilates (Body Arts and Science International), as a fully comprehensive BASI Pilates instructor. This level of training is set over years of research and study and I feel very lucky to have been educated by incredible, knowledgable and inspirational lectures from around the world. I am passionate about anatomy of movement, alignment and helping everybody to really understand how their body moves to get the most from each exercise. Pilates is a mind body technique and is as difficult as your level of understanding. The more knowledge and awareness of your body you have and how to deeply connect your muscles, the more challenging you will find the exercises. Even the most advanced Pilates body should find the most basic fundamental exercises, challenging. Additionally I have specialist training in Pilates for Hyper mobility and Injury rehabilitation.

My other passion is spending time outside in nature. I am lucky to live in one of the wings of Hale Park and spend my time adventuring with my dog, Rag, across the estate and into the New Forest. I swim in the river at Hale Park almost everyday throughout the year, usually with my mum. I used to swim in Loch Etive and Loch Awe where I lived in the highlands and since returning to the New Forest, cold water swimming has remained a big part of my life. I love the feeling of connecting with the earth and embracing the power of cold water therapy.
I love to bring the peace and calm of nature into my classes, through the warmer months we enjoy grounding classes outside, beach Pilates, year round river swimming sessions and I love opening up the doors of our studio and taking the time to notice the beautiful nature surrounding us. It is so special to watch the seasons change and to appreciate the beauty of nature at all times of the year. I am now running a swimming group every Sunday at 11am straight after our mat class (9.30-10.30am) - if you'd like to join us send me an email.
